The Purpose of Yoga - The Yogic Path to Happiness
...way from the ego, and the ego may have to take a back seat.
Happiness is not for children only. If you want to raise your spirits, just watch children. Simple things bring about feelings of joy within children. Despite all the technology, children have fun with balls, hand made creations, paper, and crayons.
Adults can afford to learn from children, because the simple pleasures in life are there for us to appreciate. Adults, who have little material wealth, must avoid becoming cynical and depressed, but the rich have their problems too.
Who is happier, the child with just enough or the child with every technological toy known to man. You already know the answer. People will not embrace a spoiled, arrogant, and miserable child. Remember the fifth Yama, Aparigraha, and avoid selfish behavior.

What Is yoga - History and Origins
... in the world of archaeology, at least until the next find, or developments in science.
The Mohenjo-daro seals show a figure standing on its head, and another sitting cross legged.
However, some see yoga's origins as being from the Vedic shastras, or vedic religious texts, which are the foundation of Indian Hinduism. The Vedic texts were created from 500 BC, and the Rigveda is believed to have been completed by 1500 BC. The Rigveda is one of several principle early vedic texts. The Rigveda, Samaveda, and Yajurveda were used by the Brahmins, a caste that were usually priests, or allowed to be priests, in the days when the caste system originated.

How To Begin Practicing yoga
... as you just took your first yoga class! Note that you may experience soreness after your first yoga class.
6. Don't Have Any Access to yoga Classes?
While there are many great yoga books and videos available, there is no replacement from learning directly from a good teacher in a yoga class. That is if you still unable to find a yoga class, I recommend starting with any beginner's video, as this will provide you with more visuals to follow than a book.
7. Dos and Don'ts
The Don'ts
DON'T eat a heavy meal right before class. Try to eat light a few hours before class commences.
DON'T drink water during class, but have it before and after.
DON'T wear shoes or socks during class.
The Dos
DO let the teacher know that it's your first class (you might not be the only one).
DO not hesitate to seek for instructor's help if you need it.
DO look around and follow what other students are doing, particularly if the teacher does not demonstrate every pose. However, take note that you may be looking at more advanced students so do not compare yourself to them.
DO familiarize yourself with some beginners' yoga poses before you begin your first class.
DO read through yoga Etiquette so you feel very comfortable entering an unfamiliar situation.
DO return in a few days for your next class!<...more
More About yoga Therapy for Increasing Self-Worth
...se we are human, but with every mistake, there is also a hidden opportunity. This is what separates successful people from those who spend their lives dwelling on the past.
How many times have we heard a yoga teacher say "Be present for practice." or "Live in the moment?" Many yoga students practice Asana, but how many are really present for their practice? As we roll the yoga mat up, and go about our lives, we should be present for life. This is a state of "mindfulness" or non-judgmental awareness. If you really want to raise your self-worth, stop judging yourself.
